BANGLADESH

1.JuD Chief Hafiz Saeed said that Motiur Rahman Nizami was executed in Bangladesh due to his love for Pakistan. Saying that Pakistan should respect those who did a favour to it, he said Islamabad should raise the issue at OIC, UN and other international forums since silence was inappropriate. Hafiz Saeed further said that current Bangladeshi government was frightened that once again people were getting united over the ideology of Pakistan and the same people were boiling with hate for India. (Daily Pak, Jasarat, Ummat)
2.JI Chief Siraj-ul-Haq said that Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina was taking dictation from India on executions of JI leaders. (Daily Pak)
3.Human Rights activist Asma Jahangir, has condemned the hanging of JI leaders and others in Bangladesh saying that such steps would divide the Bangladeshi society. In his reaction, seasoned commentator, Hamid Mir has said that if the Bangladesh government would not stop such unconstitutional steps, JI would be voted to power on a wave of public sympathy (Jasarat)
4.Chief of Muttahida Jihad Council and Chairman of Hizb Command Council, Syed Salahuddin, has said that in the name of ‘Urban livelihood Mission’ India was trying to settle non-Kashmiris in Kashmir. He added that, on the other hand, pro-India Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina was hanging and killing Muslim Ulema and leaders on the behest of India, and that India had converted Bangladesh into a colony which was alarming for subcontinent and for the Islamic world. Salahuddin said that jihad was the duty of people of Bangladesh to protect their Islamic identity and to get rid of the current government and that there was no time left to waste. He added Sheikh Hasina was inflicting atrocities on pro-Islam Bangladeshi people to satisfy her ego and India. (Jasarat)
5.Hamid Mir rejects the concept that Motiur Rahman was loyal to Pakistan and not to Bangladesh. Recalling the Bangladesh movement for freedom, he avers that the JI leaders had only opposed the armed struggle and that they had preferred a constitutional route for freedom. Even Gen Zia Ur Rahman who came to power after the assassination of Mujib Ur Rahman was certainly not pro-Pakistan though he had lifted the ban on JI. Mir further writes that JI supported Khaleda Zia in the last two general elections. According to him, the JI is emerging as a strong political party in Bangladesh. It has deep roots in Bangladesh military. So the purpose of execution of JI leaders in the name of war crimes is to crush JI from emerging as a powerful players. (Jang)
6.Nazir Naji condemns the hanging of Motiur Rahman, and says the sacrifices of JI leaders would give birth to a new Bengali community which would free the whole of Bengal. (Roznama Dunya)
7. Several edits have appeared criticising that the Hasina government is for sending JI leaders to the electric chair because for their love for Pakistan. The Bangladesh government is eliminating its political rivals in the name of war crimes, most edits said. Roznama Dunya said while expressing sorrow over the hanging of JI leader Motiur Rehman, claimed that Mukti Bahni and Indian forces had tortured many Bengalis and non-Bengalis during the 1971 war. Both Daily Pak and Nawa-i-Waqt lamented that the Sharif government has failed to avert the execution of JI leaders. Ausaf criticised that no other party except JI has reacted to Motiur Rahman’s hanging. The daily asked Pakistan government to raise the issue with human rights organisations and at other international forums and highlight that Bangladesh has violated the 1971 pact. INDIA
1.Addressing a seminar on Human Rights and Kashmir issue, organised by Institute of Strategic Studies, political leaders said that Pakistan and India could not afford another war, and that a comprehensive strategy was needed to resolve the Kashmir issue, for which even foreign embassies would have to play a role. Fazl-ur-Rahman in his address said that India had prolonged the Kashmir issue by talking on all issues except Kashmir. AJK president, Sardar Yaqoob Khan, said that India should pave a way for the peaceful solution to the Kashmir issue, remove its forces from J&K and include Kashmiris in the dialogues as an important party to the issue. (Roznama Dunya, Jasarat, Daily Dharti)
2.Journalist Mateen Fikri, writes in Jasarat: Indian Ulema has never paid attention or supported Kashmiri Muslims. A few days ago a well-known journalist Syed Iftikhar Gilani met eminent religious scholar Maulana Wahiduddin Khan in Delhi along with Kashmiri MLA Engineer Abdul Rashid to seek guidance on the Kashmir struggle but the Maulana said Kashmiris should accept their mistake and adopt peaceful life. Hence it is the duty of Pakistanis to raise issues related to Kashmir. (Jasarat)
3.Munir Ahmed Baloch strongly criticises Nawaz Sharif for trying to make friends with Modi. He accuses India of sending its commandos to attack security forces in Balochistan, and for running its terrorists network from Afghanistan. Baloch further adds that while the government did not question India for destroying Pakistani aircrafts in attack on the Mehran base, they had agreed to carry out investigations after the Pathankot attack. (Roznama Dunya)
ARMY
1.Pakistan Army’s 202 Personnel Command will attend Peace Mission in Sudan. (Nawa-i-Waqt)
2.Editorial in Roznama Dunya upholds Army Chief’s demand to the PM in their meeting to settle the Panama Papers issue soon. (Roznama Edit, Ausaf Edit)
POLITICAL SCENE
1.Shakar Solangi, in his article, states that the PM was being wrongly advised by his advisors on the Panama issue and this has given ready ammunition to the opposition. If the government had initiated talks with the opposition at the very outset, the matter would have been resolved by this time. Now that the Army chief has advised the PM to resolve the issue at the earliest, the impasse would hopefully be over soon. (Kawish)
2.Nawa-i-Waqt has expressed happiness at the rescue of former Pak PM Gilani’s son from the clutches of terrorists. It is now clear that Pakistani Taliban is involved in such kinds of kidnapping incidents. Hopes that the US and Afghan forces will stop Pakistani terrorists from setting up their hideouts in Afghanistan. Jang in an editorial said it is necessary to nab terrorists and their facilitators and deal them with iron hands. (Nawa-i-Waqt and Jang)
3.Awami Awaz has commented on the latest judicial order that declared Pervez Musharraf as an absconder. The order was issued by a three judge bench of a special trial court hearing Musharraf’s cases. Everyone in the country knows it too well that Musharraf has gone abroad with the court’s conditional permission. Even when Musharraf was in the country, he never turned up in the court on the dates he was summoned. So how can it be expected that when he is abroad, he will turn up before the court. In fact searches by federal investigators in Karachi and Islamabad serve no purpose since he has left the country. (Awami Awaz Edit)
4.Kawish hopes editorially that the present day campaign against corruption would be taken to its logical end though Pakistan has no history of any public movement on any issue yielding any positive results. Most often it is observed that most of those who are investigating matters are themselves involved in one or other irregularity and hence even if investigations are to even start in any case with enthusiasm initially, some compromise is usually worked out to give a clean chit and thereafter everything is forgotten. If this is the way campaigns have to ultimately end up, then there will be no end to corruption ever in country. (Kawish Edit)

1.President former AJK PM, Raja Mohammad Farooq Haider Khan, who also heads the AJK PML –N, has criticised Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his statement that Nawaz Sharif was a friend of Indian PM Modi. Terming Bilawal as an immature politician, he charged the PPP leader with remembering about the Kashmir issue and the Kashmiri people only election eve (Daily Dharti)
