Hasina-Modi virtual meeting likely on December 17

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and her Indian counterpart Narendra Modi are likely to have a virtual meeting on December 17.

According to sources at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Indian High Commission in Dhaka, the chances of the virtual meeting between the two prime ministers taking place on December 17 are as much as 90%.

“The meeting is expected to be held on December 17, but I am not sure about the date yet,” Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen said on Monday evening, while speaking to Dhaka Tribune.

“Before the meeting, our foreign secretary is scheduled to visit Delhi, but he is ill now. I will tell you more in due time,” the foreign minister added.

During the virtual meeting between Sheikh Hasina and Narendra Modi, four memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed.

“It is likely that as many as four MOUs will be signed during the virtual meet … but the MOUs are yet to be finalized,” the foreign minister told BSS last week.

After the meeting, the foreign minister said, the two premiers may also inaugurate some projects that have already been completed under the Indian Line of Credit (LoC)……
