The head of the press directorate of the Khost educational department said that around 13,000 students, both boys and girls, lack access to schools in many districts of the province.

The press director for the provincial education department, Abdul Kabir Sangin, said that deteriorated economic conditions caused thousands of children who are eligible for school to be deprived of education.

“Nearly 13,000 girls and boys are eligible, but are deprived of education due to long distances and poverty…,” he said.

The residents also urged the Islamic Emirate and relevant organizations to address their problem of access to schooling.

“There is no school in some areas of Nadershahkoot district. Many children who are eligible for schools are deprived of education because there is no school. We call on the education ministry to pay attention to it,” said Shamir Haqyar, a resident of Nadershahkoot district.

“In some areas, and in remote districts of Khost where schools do not exist, there is a need for them to build schools,” said Nisar Mohabat, a resident of Khost.

“There are no schools for the children who are eligible. Some of the schools which exist, their buildings have been damaged and need reconstruction,” Sharif Shaheen, a resident of Khost.

The provincial head of the cultural department, Shabir Ahmad Osmani, said that 97 tents have been provided to the areas which lack school buildings.

“The department of education has proposed the construction of buildings for 100 schools which are needed in Khost. After approval of the development budget, its status will be clarified,” he said.

According to TOLOnews findings, Sabrai, Yaqoobai, Musa Khail and Qalendar are the main districts where many children are deprived of school.
